    1. Roles & Responsibilities: The Board will:
      1. Govern with a focus on the future, on results, and on continuous improvement;
      2. Create a safe environment for the productive exchange of ideas;
      3. Encourage collective decision making and diversity in viewpoints;
      4. Respect the distinction between Board and Superintendent/staff roles;
      5. Pursue rigorous and continual improvement in its ability to define community values and its vision of the future;
      6. Acknowledge that the Superintendent is accountable only to the full Board of Education;
      7. Speak with one voice. No Board member, or subset of the Board of Education, has the authority to act or speak on behalf of the Board without the consent of the Board.
      8. Direct with one voice. No Board member, or subset of the Board of Education, has the authority to direct the superintendent.

    1. I will avoid any conflict of interest or the appearance of impropriety which could result from my position, and will not use my board membership for personal gain or publicity.
